We have been blessed with the donation of a new piano for the sanctuary.
This came about through a somewhat unusual path. We have some new members, a pianist, and our pastor, who are all gifted musicians. Our piano needed tuning, and it was decided to call a piano tuner not only to tune but also to evaluate our current instrument.
The professional opinion was not encouraging. In fact, the prognosis was that the piano would barely hold a tuning and was ready to be trashed. We asked our tuner, Ralph, if he could look out for a replacement. And he really came through!
Jane, a retired concert pianist and opera singer who once sang the lead roles in Carmen and Samson and Delilah, was downsizing and decided to donate her instrument. She appreciated our history, which dates back to the same period as the instrument. We gratefully accepted her donation, and it was delivered last week.
