OPENING Kendra Gilpatrick
Because you are his children, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.”
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
TIME OF SILENCE
PRAYER OF CONFESSION (together)
Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We a33re truly sorry and we humbly repent. Through the Cross of your Son Je3sus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.
Leader:
In this world, there is no justifying us. Yet, God fully loves us and completely accepts us through the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by the beautiful grace of his Spirit God is irresistibly making us more and more holy until the promised Day of Christ Jesus – as we call out to him, Abba, Father!. Thanks be to God!
Family Song
Here we are, gathered together as a family,
Bound as one, lifting up our voices to the King of kings.
We cry, “Abba, Father, worthy is Your name.
Abba Father, worthy is Your name.”
SHARING THE PEACE OF CHRIST
PRAYER OF ILLUMINATION
NEW TESTAMENT LESSON – Romans 13.8-14
8 Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law. 9 The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,”[a] and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” 10 Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
11 And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. 12 The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. 13 Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. 14 Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.
